On the evening of March 17, in Hanoi, on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of Ghana’s National Day (March 6, 1957 – March 6, 2024) and the 59th anniversary of Vietnam establishing diplomatic relations with Ghana (March 25, 1965 – March 25, 2024), the Ghanaian Community in Vietnam organized a celebration of the National Day of the Republic of Ghana and the Vietnam – Ghana Commerce and Investment Promotion Forum.


With the participation of nearly 100 Ghanaians currently living and working in Vietnam, the 67th Anniversary of the Republic of Ghana’s National Day demonstrated the common values, the spirit of cooperation and the common economic aspirations of both countries.

Despite the geographical distance, Vietnam and Ghana have a good relationship that is constantly being strengthened, especially in the fields of commerce and investment. Currently, Ghana is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in the West African market, especially rice. Ghana market ranks 3rd in Vietnam’s rice export. Ghana has great potential to further expand bilateral cooperation in many aspects, including through the exchange of working visits at all levels, expanding commerce, investment and cooperation in potential fields, including renewable energy and clean energy.

In an interview at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Van Hiep – General Director of PVMACHINO, stated that the Ghana market is a new but very potential market. He hopes that Vietnam and Ghana will join hands to build a sustainable and long-term friendly trade cooperation, promoting the economic development of both countries.

Ghana’s economy is based on its rich natural resources, including gold, oil, diamonds, manganese, titanium, etc. Ghana is currently considered a country with a healthy business environment and a steady process of poverty reduction. Ghana’s strategic location makes it a prime location for companies looking for quick access to the African market. In addition, the policies of the Ghanaian Government ensure that both local and foreign entrepreneurs enjoy attractive investment opportunities.

From the Vietnamese side, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hung – Senior Advisor, Government Office, thanked the Ghana community for always ready for Vietnam to access the West African market. Mr. Hung affirmed that Vietnam is ready to be the gateway for Ghana to expand cooperation in the ASEAN region.

The celebration of the 67th anniversary of the Republic of Ghana’s National Day in Hanoi laid the foundation for stronger activities of the Ghanaian community in Vietnam, reinforcing the common desire to enhance bilateral cooperation.
