Why has agricultural export in Vietnam achieved many good achievements?

Vietnam’s agricultural exports are making important changes in the international market, contributing positively to the overall export turnover of the country.

Agricultural quality is going up
2020 and 2021 are difficult times for Vietnam’s agricultural exports due to the heavy influence of the covid 19 epidemic. However, our country’s export turnover during that period still reached an impressive figure of 544 billion USD, which proves that the quality of the country’s agriculture is going up.

In the agricultural industry, agricultural products have been the dominant export item in recent years, setting a record with an export value of 41.2 billion USD in 2020 and 22.92 billion USD in the first 6 months of 2021. This is also a testament to the amazing efforts and achievements for Vietnam’s agricultural exports in general, the efforts of the people and businesses in particular.

At the same time, thanks to seizing the opportunity in the rice export tax issued by the Government, in the first 9 months of 2022, the total value of Vietnam’s agricultural export turnover reached 29.97 billion USD, an increase of 9.7 billion USD over the same period in 2017.
According to a forecast of the Ministry of Agriculture of Vietnam today, the industry’s turnover will reach 40-40.5 billion USD, while the Government’s target is 38 billion USD in 2023.

To see the quality in Vietnam’s agricultural industry, it is impossible not to mention the policies that are favored and encouraged by the Government, ministries, agencies and state agencies to invest in the agricultural sector.
As of May 2015, there were only 3,200 enterprises investing in the agricultural sector, however by May 2022 there were more than 8,800 enterprises, besides 13,300 cooperatives, most of which were newly established.
On the other hand, all enterprises and cooperatives investing in agriculture apply modern machinery and technology, reducing the dependence of the weather and natural surroundings, ensuring food hygiene and safety, domestic and export market requirements.
From December 2022 to the present time, according to the market survey, the latest data recorded in the field of vegetables and fruits alone, 10 more processing factories were established and put into operation to increase the value of agricultural products, contributing to regulating the agricultural export market of Vietnam.

Update agricultural export market 2022

On November 30, 2021, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that in November, the export turnover of the agricultural industry, especially rice, increased to over $4.27 billion, down nearly 5% over the same period last year.

This number has also partly shown the development of rice in particular and Vietnam’s agricultural export in general, this contribution has contributed significantly to the agricultural industry, helping to raise Vietnamese rice to a new level, bringing practical value to people’s lives.

Regarding the import of agricultural products on the agricultural market of Vietnam, it is estimated that the import value of these items reached over USD 25.21 billion, up 3.9%; aquatic products was estimated at 2.5 billion USD, up 39.7%; the main group of forest products reached 2.89 billion USD, up 4%; livestock products reached over 3 billion USD, down 3.2%…coffee reached 3.5 billion USD (up 31.5%), rubber reached 2.9 billion USD (up 3.2%).
